I find it interesting how the very things you need in life come at just the right time. Not a second sooner, not a second later. You have to be in the right place to receive. Or so it seems. Today I was. I’m in kind of a nostalgic mood. Maybe it’s the end of summer and the transition into fall that has me looking back and forward at the same time.
I’ve been in a making Glass Scuba Divers phase. They are flowing so I’m following. They always remind me of my years spent living on Maui. Great Times! I really miss the sea. The smell, the air, the sand, the water, the humpbacks and honus.
I wasn’t really sure what I was going to write about today but as I looked for a cover image the quote below found me. I didn’t even know it existed, but it was perfect for today.
“We are tied to the ocean and when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came”
-John F Kennedy
The ocean was always a place that was a part of me. I grew up on the California coast so most of my childhood was spent playing in the waves. Lots of holidays and birthday parties. When I was older it was a great place for me to go and find peace, answers, freedom. I could submerge myself in the salty water and all my problems would melt away. Maybe that’s one reason why I keep a connection to the sea even though I no longer live close. While I’m creating glass scuba divers I get to experience that incredible feeling of buoyancy again. I can hear all the clacking sounds and anticipation of seeing something cool.
Don’t get me wrong, I love where I live and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now. Just sometimes, on grey days I want to go walk on the beach with my feet in the water, collect seashells and watch the crabs run, get intoxicated by the fragrance of the beach. Every now and then when the wind is blowing through my trees they sound just like the waves rolling in and out in the distance. Funny huh?
So here’s to wonderful memories past and wonderful memories to come! Feel like sharing your favorite beach memory?
I leave you with one of my all time favorite island songs!!
Aloha And Happy Friday!
